Will the 10cm Softie be a good fit for the Sanken CS3?
Unfortunately, No. To ensure complete wind protection. The ports on any shotgun microphone need to be covered as well as the tip. Wind will still get in through these ports (and depending on the make and model, some switches) on the microphone if left exposed.   The best Softie solution for the Sanken CS3 would be 18cm:   Description: 18cm Super-Softie (19/22) Order Code: 033203 Web link: www.rycote.com/products/033203 UK   Videographer - Single Operator - Shotgun Microphone Demonstration from Rycote on Vimeo.

How does the Super-Softie® perform compared to the Classic-Softie®?
Sound professionals have grown accustomed to working with synthetic fur windshields, and because of their familiar 'fluffy' appearance, they can appear more windproof and protective than other solutions. Aesthetically, the Super-Softie® (with its furless, 3D-Tex® material) looks quite different; however, from a technical (and most importantly sonic) standpoint, it offers better overall performance. This has been confirmed through rigorous testing here at Rycote. The biggest advantage of 3D-Tex is how well it maintains its performance. Fur should ideally be kept dry and clean, which ensures effective disruption of turbulence through vortical cancellation and successful preservation of high frequency content. It also needs replacing after a certain amount of deterioration. By contrast, 3D-Tex doesn't require the same levels of maintenance, and can be shaken dry/dusted down on location. None of this means that fur windshields are ineffective; on the contrary, all fur products manufactured by Rycote offer dependable and highly effective wind-noise reduction, and this has been proven through years of location use by sound professionals worldwide. We use a painstaking, highly detailed manufacturing process to produce our Windjammers, Classic-Softies® and other fur-based solutions, and all provide optimal wind protection with virtually no adverse effect on high frequency content when kept as dry and clean as possible. More information regarding our fur manufacture can be found in the following technical article. The frequency plot below compares the performance of the two Softies using a Schoeps CMIT 5 shotgun mic (green = Classic-Softie; red = Super-Softie; blue = unprotected mic). You can see here how the Super-Softie (red trace) offers better wind protection in the crucial sub-100Hz region, which is where most wind noise occurs.
