Do you have solution for the Olympus Digital recorder VN731PC? Traffic and wind noise is a problem.

My Zoom portable recorder doesn't screw completely down onto the portable recorder suspension kit.
The issue usually relates the depth of thread on the recorder. If it is too shallow, then the thread from our mount will not fully tighten onto the H5. The thread is a 1/4"-BSW standard, and you should always have the same depth, as the diameter. So approx. 6.0mm deep of thread. Some recorders don't do this, instead they make a very shallow thread. If you check the this may be the case.
The only solution would be to fit a washer or washers between the recorder & the mount. If you require me to send a couple of M6 washers I would happily do so for you to try. Let me know.
With the washer, I'd recommend removing the brass screw thread thumb wheel from the top bar. Fit the washer under the bar, and fitting the screw back through the bar. This would mean the thread is made shorter, but the recorder still rests on the rubber grip.

Can I use the Windjammer for the Zoom H6 with the Zoom H5?
The H5 mic is different to the H6, and we now have a Mini Windjammer suitable for it (details below):

The Windjammer for the Zoom H5 covers the Gain Control. Is this right?
The Windjammer should fit the H5 snug. Unfortunately it will cover the gain control.
The windjammer would be ineffective covering just around the bottom of the mic heads as this would leave gaps for the wind to get through. The body of the H5 is the best surface to provide a good seal as in the photo below. Mini Windjammer (for portable audio recorders) from Rycote on Vimeo.

For the Portable Recorder Kits (i.e. 046023) what size is the screw on the suspension & what size threads are there for mounting options?
The screw threads on the extension handle (both male & female), and the portable recorder suspension are all 3/8"-16. The kit comes with a male 3/8" shoe adaptor, than has a female 1/4"-20 thread to allow it to be mounted onto a tripod or monopod too.

Why does my portable recorder still suffer from wind noise?
Many customers want to protect their portable recorder microphones from wind noise, and can choose from a wide range of Rycote solutions manufactured specifically for this purpose.
Like all of our products, these are designed, built and tested to the highest possible standards, and offer industry-leading wind protection; however, it is important to understand that there are limitations when it comes to the amount of protection that can be attained with built-in portable recorder microphones, which are arguably best-suited for use in controlled environments indoors (music performance, studio recordings, dictation, interviews, etc.). The ideal method of wind protection is to isolate microphones in a basket system, and this approach is exemplified in Rycote's Modular and Cyclone ranges. In such a setup, mics sit internally in 'dead air' space, away from the edge of the windshield basket. The basket itself is lined with acoustically transparent fabric (or in the case of the Cyclone, advanced 3D-Tex material) which effectively seals the whole structure and gives the system a high impedance to wind and a low impedance to audio: in short, audio passes through virtually unaffected, and wind is substantially attenuated. For pressure gradient or 'directional' mics, a sealed basket system has the added advantage of forming a pressure chamber, which essentially acts as a high-pass acoustic filter. Adding a fur Windjammer over the basket reduces wind noise even further through vortex cancellation and expansion of overall windshield size. In Rycote basket systems, mics are also placed on separate, patented Lyre suspensions internally, and this further isolates them from vibration and handling noise. None of this can happen with built-in microphones in portable recorders, since they can't be separated from the units and isolated. There is certainly some 'dead air' space when a Windjammer is placed over the end correctly, and this is very effective at reducing wind noise; but never as much as with a basket system. The physical structure of the recorder is also a factor. Wind can blow across the edge of the body audibly, and also leak into the unit towards the mic capsules through buttons, media card slots and exposed connectors. It is very difficult to protect against this, other than trying to cover the entire recorder and obscuring the buttons/screen. This doesn't mean that portable recorders can't be used successfully outdoors, and Rycote's industry-leading product range in this area caters specifically for such situations. It is, however, important to understand that on-board portable recorder microphones, in the vast majority of cases, can never be protected as effectively as a separate mic configuration with a full basket system enclosing it.

Will the Windjammer fit on to the Olympus LS-11 if I use the remote?
The remote receiver plugs in to the top of the Olympus LS-11.
This means that the Windjammer will block the infrared signal rendering the remote useless.
The receiver is also rather big, this will prevent the Windjammer from fitting snug and if at all.

Can you use the Mini Windjammer for the Zoom H4n on the Zoom H6?
When possible we design & make the Mini Windjammer’s per model of recorder. Asides from the different shape & profile of mics & recorder bodies, we try to avoid seams running directly in front of the mic pick ups. We generally use the internal foam to add air volume, if they aren’t too small. So yes the ZOOM H6 definitely does have the foam inside it.
The Mini Windjammers for the H6 are made specifically for each of the mic heads supplied with it. They are both different to the H4N Mini Windjammer.
