How did we do it? We kept things simple.
The HC microphones are shipped with only a case — no mic clips, no foams, no other accessories. To reduce costs, we decided to minimise the packaging and shipping costs by not paying to send “air” across the world. We ask that you please find compatible Rycote foams, Softies, windshield kits, shock mounts and other accessories near you.
Our new microphones were designed in-house and are made at Rycote in our factory in the U.K. As such, we are able to utilise much of our current manufacturing and testing resources we use to make other Rycote products. Therefore our investment costs for production was not as high as if we had started making mics from scratch. This combined with a modular material and components design allowed us to create two hypercardioid mics cost effectively and pass on more value to you.
The Rycote SC-08 is a supercardioid pencil condenser microphone designed for a range of applications in studio and field recording.
The SC-08 microphones provide directionality with a virtually flat frequency response from 70Hz-20KHz, moderately dropping off below 60Hz. The mics are built on Rycote’s low self-noise preamp design and capsules which offer a consistent sonic signature that mixes well when cut together with other Rycote microphones in the range.
The SC-08 mics can be used individually or in matched stereo pairs.

Based around our signature low self-noise capsule it delivers the precision and quality that our range of microphones has become renowned for. Used in MS or DMS (Double MS) for doc-style or corporate content in combination with directional mic. Ideal to pick dialogue and ambience with mono sources and avoiding setup change on top of some control over the stereo image.Can be also used for stereo sound design or field recording.

It is also remarkably light compared to other solutions allowing an easier job for targeting sound sources when mounting it on windshields or classic softie slip-on protection.
