The Modular Windshield Kit is the professionals' choice when maximum isolation from wind and handling noise is required.

This complete modular system can be configured to allow almost any microphone to be shock-mounted and provided with varying degrees of windshielding. Components may be ordered separately, or as one of a series of kits, which simplify the selection process for many common configurations. A Modular Windshield Kit is comprised of the following three main components: Modular Suspension, Modular Windshield and Windjammer.

Modular Suspension
Our suspensions provides complete isolation against handling noise and cable-borne noises, by supporting the microphone in a cradle arrangement using Lyre suspension webs.

Windshield
The Windshield basket completely surrounds the microphone and its connector, sliding onto the Modular Suspension to provide up to 30dB of wind noise attenuation. This is the first.

The Rycote 18cm Classic-Softie (19/22) is a professional-grade slip-on windshield designed to deliver fast, effective wind protection for shotgun microphones with a 19–22mm diameter and interference tube slots no further than 18cm from the mic tip.

Ideal for ENG, documentary, and location recording, this Softie is a reliable solution for sound professionals who need to capture clean audio in unpredictable outdoor conditions. It’s compatible with widely used microphones such as the RØDE NTG-3, Sennheiser MKH 416, Sanken CS-3e, and Sony ECM 678.

The Classic-Softie features Rycote’s specially engineered open-cell acoustic foam and high-quality synthetic fur. This combination provides up to 25 dB of wind noise attenuation while maintaining excellent acoustic transparency, ensuring your recordings retain their natural tonal balance.

Excellent noise reduction and weather durability

The Super-Softie® retains the excellent wind noise reduction of a conventional cavity windshield but allies it to a novel aerodynamic shape and surface structure, and to a material - 3D-Tex™ - which combines excellent acoustic transparency with superb attenuation of wind noise. It has no rigid internal structure, so causes virtually no polar pattern distortion and is extremely robust in challenging environments such as news-gathering.

If it becomes rain-soaked it can be squeezed out and shaken dry very quickly; if it becomes coated with dust it can be rinsed quickly without affecting its performance.

The shape & structure of the Super Softie® allow it to reduce wind noise at extreme LF and infrasonic frequencies - where the greatest wind energy lies - more efficiently than previous designs.
